Munsted Castle is famous for the portrait
of its jester, Tom Fool, who entertained many a banquet. He is seen
resplendent in a gaudy jester's costume, and his countenance is anything
but amused. Tom enjoyed directing passersby to travel the wrong road,
and so unfortunately encounter the mud bogs and the quicksand hidden
there. His favorite tree that he liked to sit under is still standing,
and his legend continues to this day. I was inspired to create this
spindle in favor of his jesters' costume. The Laminate is tedious
to complete, but worth the effort. The weight is distributed for a
fast and long spin and it comes in burls, with Purpleheart and Paduk
laminate. Fortunately, this Tom Foolery Spins like a dream. |
